Planting Seeds of Happiness

"All the flowers of tomorrow are the seeds of today." --Unknown
What are you planting in the garden of your mind? Are you just repeating the same thoughts over and over? Do you worry and fret about things from the past or spend your days "what iffing" about the future, with the same results day after day and year after year?

What do you allow to occupy the space in your head?

Since we can only think one thought at a time, why not choose to fill your mind with good thoughts? That is not to say that it's easy to change your thoughts, but with practice and intention you can plant seeds of happiness.

How? Here are just a few ways:
  1. Learn something new. Take a class, go to a workshop, read a good book, anything to stimulate your intellectual curiosity. Have you discovered Coursera? I love learning new things and this is an amazing resource for anyone who wants to grow and learn. And it's free!
  2. Keep a happiness/gratitude journal. At the end of the day, write down the moment in your day for which you are the most grateful. What was your happiest moment of the day?
  3. Do something you enjoy. "All work and no play..." What brings you joy? What is one thing you can do today, just for the fun of it?
  4. Read scripture, meditate, pray. Allow stillness and Spirit to settle the mud of your thoughts so you can see the Truth more clearly.
What would you add to this list? What seeds would you plant in your own mind that would allow you to bloom and grow in beautiful, new ways?

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds..." --St. Paul
