Are You a People Pleaser?

"Do the things that interest you and do them with all your heart. Don't be concerned about whether people are watching you or criticizing you. The chances are that they aren't paying attention to you." -Eleanor Roosevelt
And why aren't they paying attention to you? Because they may be as concerned about whether people are watching them or criticizing them as you are. OR, they are too busy living their own lives to worry about what you're doing with yours.

If you live your life worrying about what others think of you, you will live a very restricted life. Not only that, you will be giving away your power, your inner authority, to others. You will be like a puppet on a string, constantly being pulled in different directions.

And if how you feel is determined by how others respond to you, you're in for an emotional roller coaster of a life.

So how do you break the approval-seeking pattern?

"Do the things that interest you and do them with all your heart."

I can hear some of you saying, "But I don't even know what interests me!"

Many of us are so focused on pleasing others that we have no idea what interests us. It's worth it to ask and discover the answer to this question: "What do you really, really, really want?"

"Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
    and you will find rest for your souls."
-Jeremiah 6:16
